Multiculturalism at St Joseph's

This term, St Joseph’s students are learning about multi-culturalism. The school is blessed to have such a rare mixture of students from different cultures. Each week for seven weeks the students will celebrate and learn about cultures, countries, religions, and cuisines of countries such as Indonesia, South Africa, India, Italy and the Philippines. Students will also spend a week learning about Indigenous Spirituality and Australia.

Students from Prep to Year 6 learn Indonesian as part of the curriculum and due to the diverse range of cultures within the school, many of the students can speak other languages as well. We have also welcomed students who speak English as their second language and we have seen incredible progress with these children who are now speaking English fluently. St Joseph’s celebrates all cultures and is inclusive of all religions and it has been great to see the students experiencing multi-culturalism at school.
